About the Tucson Chapter #857

A local community of piano technicians, part of the Piano Technicians Guild, Inc.'s international network of craftspeople.

Our mission

Advancing the craft of piano technology in Southern Arizona.

The Tucson Chapter exists to support piano technicians at every stage of their career — from associates learning the fundamentals of tuning and regulation, to Registered Piano Technicians (RPTs) refining a lifetime of practice. We are part of the Piano Technicians Guild, Inc., the leading professional association for piano tuners, technicians, and rebuilders.

The Mission of the Piano Technicians Guild, Inc

The mission of the Piano Technicians Guild, Inc. is to promote the highest possible standards of piano service by providing members with opportunities for professional development, by recognizing technical competence through examinations and by advancing the interests of its members.

What we do

  • Host quarterly technical meetings featuring demonstrations, discussions, and guest presenters.
  • Mentor members preparing for the RPT tuning and technical examinations.
  • Serve the Tucson community as a referral resource for piano owners seeking qualified technicians.
  • Uphold and promote the PTG Code of Ethics in every member's professional practice.

Connection to PTG international

Chapter members are members of the international Piano Technicians Guild, Inc. The international organization sets professional standards, administers the RPT examinations, publishes the Piano Technicians Journal, and hosts the annual convention. Local chapters like ours bring that knowledge home — through hands-on meetings and the everyday support of a close professional community.

Who can join

Working piano technicians, students of piano technology, and allied trades are all welcome. To formally join the chapter you'll first need an active PTG membership; we're happy to help you navigate that process -- start by joining the international Piano Technicians Guild, Inc. here.
